Stephen Van Dyck

Through his daily work Stephen is energized by his passion for understanding the contemporary built environment through the lenses of architectural history and theory. Stephen’s design approach seeks to create high-performance buildings and public spaces for people and cities, producing inventive solutions for programmatic needs, environmental conditions and urban influences. He is widely recognized as an industry authority on the application of technologies to the design and construction process. Stephen helps direct the investigations of LMN Tech Studio, the firm’s in-house research and development lab. Stephen earned a Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College and a Master of Architecture from Yale University, and joined LMN in 2009.
Stephen applies his passion for innovation across several market sectors, including public assembly, performing arts, higher education, transportation and urban mixed-use. Some of Stephen’s representative projects include Voxman Music Building at the University of Iowa, Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, the Hyatt Regency Seattle, Cleveland Convention Center & Civic Core, SR-520 Montlake Lid and Land Bridge, and the Grand Avenue Park Bridge.
