BOLEH

Built On Lot Engineered Homes

A modern single-story house with a green metal roof, white exterior walls, wooden accents, a front porch with seating, and flower boxes, reflecting in the wet pavement.

Housing has become a major focus for the Makah Tribe in Neah Bay, WA, where durable, affordable homes have long been scarce. CRTC and the tribe are working to turn a local resource, Coastal Western Hemlock, into sustainable housing.

The resulting BOLEH (Built On Lot, Engineered Homes) kits allow homes to be assembled without cranes, empowering tribal members to build their own houses. The first two-bedroom, one-bath model is expected to be completed in 2026, marking a key step toward housing independence and local self-reliance.
